Review :

Interesting blend of drama and science- fiction

"The Dead Zone" stands out as one of the better shows on Television today. The acting, especially by Anthony Michael Hall is completely belieavable and dramatic, sucking you into his life and his pains as he see disturbing images of the future and past. This show sometimes gets gory with the images of blood, death, etc. However, it isn't too hard to watch and the amount of blood stays reasonable. The script doesn't stand out as much as the other features. It's still relatively solid, but has some flaws concerning the love between Sara and Johnny, making it a bit too cliche and corny. Sometimes, the script also loses sight of the episode and eventually just spins out to human drama. Other flaws include the occassional boring episode or Hall's performance as Johnny sometimes falls flat. The special effects though, are amazing. When Johnny touches someone and sees the past or future, the editing and the effects quickly change to show what happened or what's going to happen. It's amazing to see it work, everything builds together so well and the effects of murder, or the entire area being frozen with Johnny walking through is spectacular. I applaud the USA channell for restoring Television with the two arguablly greatest shows to watch: "The Dead Zone" and "Monk". 9.5/10

I thought it was going to be dumb but.......................

It has now became one of my favorite American shows! I've grown tired of Justice League and Spiderman. I longed for something better. When I saw the previews of Teen Titans I thought it was a lame rip off of Jap anime. I watched the premere of TT on Saturday and loved it! And I wanted more! It was so hilarious. Five superheros who live in obvious hideout which is more dirty than Spongebob's Squarepant's pineapple (note the mountains of dirty dishes in their kitchen) Some diehard anime fans dissed it because of it's overused Jap sight gags but I found it hilarious. Plus it was funny that most of the background music sounded like you would hear in a grocery store. I recently found out that a 3rd and 4th season is in the works. Thanks Cartoon Network!

One of the best sci-fi shows of all time

For the first three years of Sliders, this show was an intelligent, original and fascinating example of perfect scifi TV. The acting was mostly above average, but the character dynamics of this odd group (a whiz kid, his wannabe girlfriend, his college professor and a washed-up singer who got into sliding by accident) and the writing were what really made the show. Unfortunately, the show began to go downhill when the original cast was shaken up with the departure of the formidable John Rhys-Davies as the Professor, and jumped the shark completely when it lost Sabrina Lloyd as Wade. I'm sure many salivating teen males would disagree with me on the pointlessness of Kari Wuhrer, but it's clear to me that she added nothing but cleavage to the show.

A show with great potential that should have continued for years.

Great show, hopefully more of the same!

Excellent show, with movie quality cinematography that shows the behind the scenes of the snipers. It takes from some of those SWAT reality TV shows and throws in the personal issues and struggles that no one gets to see. Only one episode has been aired so far, so I don't have a lot to base this on, but I give it a 9 as this is something fresh although how long it can keep it up remains to be seen. My other complaint is the late airing time, but a very high quality show none the less (as their huge budget indicates).

I Loved This Show!

"Garfield and Friends" was a really good show. I started watching it Saturday mornings with my sister in 1990 when I was 3 years old. I loved it. My favorite character was Odie, he was so cute. My sister's favorite character was Garfield, he was funny and clever. I liked both the "Garfield" and "U.S. Acres" part of the show.

My favorite "Garfield" episodes were: "Good Cat, Bad Cat", " Garfield Goes Hawaiian", and "Ode to Odie". Those episodes were classics. My favorite "U.S. Acres" episode (I can't remember the title of it) was about one character following a rainbow which led to a game show with prizes. That episode was really funny.

I think everyone should watch this show because it is a classic. I give this show 9/10 stars.

Fun for those who have never seen the original

I just read half a dozen reviews of "Life on Mars" from viewers who are obviously fans of the original. History has shown that remakes of anything rarely please those who are anxious to see it again. However, if you've never seen the original (which I haven't), I think you just may enjoy this particular remake. Never a fan of cops & robbers shows, I stumbled upon Life on Mars to fill my spare hour after Grey's Anatomy. Sam's return to 1973 was an enjoyable trip down memory lane for me! I was 10 years old in 1973, yet I knew every song and instantly connected with the clothes, the hair, and the times! I was outraged and entertained by Lt. Hunt (Keitel); he is politically incorrect (of the Archie Bunker variety), lacks any sort of conscience or scruples, and is a modern day cowboy who lacks the morals and ethics that have been so finely honed by society over the last 30 years. You can't help but love him and hate him all at the same time! Detective Tyler (our main man) is, by comparison, politically correct having arrived from the 21st century, and finds the 125th's whole approach to law enforcement to be downright barbaric! It's fascinating to watch someone from today try to relate to the ways of yesteryear!! The break-out fight scenes among the detectives, the love-hate relationships that are developing, and the subtle humor buried within all of it make for a fun hour of surprises and whimsy. All this from a cop show!! I love the music and poly suits and the references to past events. If they're a little challenged in getting the exact date right, who cares? The intent is to take you back to another place in time and it absolutely worked for me! Jason O'Mara's "Sam" is reminiscent of Mel Gibson's "Riggs" in Lethal Weapon - what's not to love??

Great characters make a great show

Have we seen this plot before? yes we have albeit not in a place this great looking and thats part of the charm of this fantastically addictive series. So many shows like this take place in a normal setting. This one defies the rules and showcases it in a very rich, very snobby like area full of interesting people.

There are several reasons why this show is great and successful

1. Seth Cohen is the most interesting character the show has to offer. Ya know it all started out with ryan who is the main character but after about 5 episodes it was clear who the real star is. No other character is as fleshed out and real as he is. and funny with his wisecracking demeanor. Seth has actually changed and become more real as the season went on. Most everyone else has stayed the same. Like ryan who hasn't showed any other kind of side or major insecurities, and he's still a hot head.

2. It doesn't try and shove morals down your throat. Just about every show in this vein out there tries to make every episode a "dont do this" episode, and its very refreshing. They present each episode as a day in their life and thats it.

3. Finally parents get their due. Seth's parents are not some stupid "john hughes" parents with little or no screen time and who's pets have bigger brains that they do. Instead they have a decent amount of screen time, fight, make up, and actually have a life that we see.

Is this show perfect . . . . no that would be unfair to say it is or expect it to be. Its fun, interesting, and is the most refreshing addition to the teen genre by far.

Funny and nice and clever new comedy. Nice to see Christina Applegate again.

"ABC's" new hit comedy series "Samantha Who?" is certainly funny and the plot theme is centered around a neat concept of amnesia of a young lady named Samantha. It's something that we as viewers hope never happens to us, that being memory loss, and then all of a sudden we awake and slowly have to learn about our friends and family. This series begins just that way with Christina Applegate("Married with Children")as a female named Samantha who awakes one day from a coma with her parents by her bedside yet she doesn't know them! All memory is gone she doesn't even remember her life or friends or career, she must then rekindle her romance with boyfriend Todd(Barry Watson) and rework her friendship and partying ways with best friend Andrea(Jennifer Esposito). The big questions as the show goes on how will the new Samantha be a fun loving angel and nice girl trying to regain place of memory, or will she return to her devilish and partying ways of being promiscuous and wild. It's just great to see Christina Applegate working again she's actually more beautiful than she was on her "Married with Children" days. Also Jean Smart and Jennifer Esposito give good supporting performances. This series is one of the better new ones that's funny and charming, and it's interesting to follow along the characters new rediscovery of life, love, and most of all to find out who she really is.

A real look at Tru Calling, forget what you've heard, these are the facts...

Tru Calling, it's hard to review Tru Calling as it's either a show that's loved or hated, I think that's become clear with different people's opinions on the show. I don't think I've read someone who's on the border of liking and disliking a show. I personally love and adore the show.

Eliza is top notch as Tru Davies, she's believable in her role, not making it too over the top. Her co-stars, Jason Priestly and Scott Reeves compliment Eliza perfectly, most notably Scott. For an underrated actor, who I personally hadn't heard of before the show, he holds up his performance alongside Eliza perfectly. He's believable as the rebellious son, but heartwarming as the loving brother of Tru. Jason Priestly, a late addition to the series cast plays the perfect villain against Tru. He's confident, smug and full of himself, he's everything that Tru isn't, it makes the character work.

The episodes are interesting, unique in there on way, it's not just a simple case of Tru goes back and saves someone, there's different twists that can effect the outcome of her reliving the day. Highlights for me of the first season include the Pilot, the shocking Daddy's Girl, Reunion, Valentine and the 2 part season finale D.O.A and Two Weddings and a Funeral. With the shocking twists that come along the season, Daddy's Girl sets up the series arc brilliantly, it's even furthered by the end of the 2nd part of the season finale. This show has a lot more depth than what it's given credit for.

Most people automatically snub this show because Eliza choose to do it over a Faith spin off from Buffy and Angel. I'm the biggest Buffy/Angel fan and would have loved to see a spin-off. But Tru Calling is an amazing show, that has proven it can hold it's own. Forget the negative comments you've heard about the show. Yes there are flaws, but the hour of enjoyment you receive outweighs them completely.

The only thing I really can say about Tru Calling is that it stumbled in it's first few episodes, gaining it's feet, and this was obvious while watching the episodes, however the writers managed to get the show into a good motion and by the middle of the series it turns out to be one of the only good shows currently airing on TV. With the loss of Buffy, Angel, Friends and Wonderfalls. Good TV is short in quantity, networks clearing these shows to make room for more reality shows that we really have no interest in anymore.

Personally I'd recommend Tru Calling to anyone who was a fan of Buffy or Angel, or anyone who loves supernatural, drama and comedy shows. Forget what the haters say, judge Tru Calling for yourself.

Unpretentious and simple yet complex and powerful; Early Edition achieves a balance few can approach.

There's something wonderfully unpretentious about this show; I'm not sure what it is exactly, it's one of those intangible things which makes a show memorable and leaves a smile on your face when you realise that in the past hour you've been really entertained.

With a combination of good acting, good writing and strong production it seems that it manages to convey its intentions without preaching, without being `in your face' and without screaming out loud. I always think of it as an `unpretentious little show' and find myself going to great lengths to see it; our dreadful local stations see fit to put it on at 3am on a Sunday morning (God only knows why when vastly inferior shows crowd more reasonable times, I wish we had a station like CBS here in Australia that puts these shows on at reasonable times as happens in the US).

The premise of the show (a man who receives tomorrow's newspaper today and has to do what he can to set things right that appear in the paper) is very easy to get into. This alone makes the show that much more accessible, I think that anyone who takes the time will be more than justly rewarded. I am very glad to see that the show is still running on CBS and I sincerely hope that it is with us for a long time to come. It's been going since 1996 and they don't seem to be running out of ideas which is always a good sign…

All in all one of my top ten in the last decade or so, so good to see a show which doesn't rely on pretentiousness and glitter but on its own values and sheer quality of its writing, production and acting. Not only a must see but a must-return-to as well!

The Secret Circle is a must-see!

The Secret Circle is definitely a show that is worth your time. Don't judge it just because the central characters are teenagers, it doesn't only focus on them. Any adult who is into genre shows such as this, will find just as much enjoyment out of this show as anyone else. It has a promising Pilot that offers massive potential for the show, and trust me when I say this, the show does take advantage of that potential and is developing into quite an addictive and fun new TV series. The farther you get into it, the better it gets and the more compelling the characters and story become. Once you get passed the first three episodes, the fourth episode, "Heather" is really when the show catches its footing. It becomes darker, more mysterious, the pacing becomes faster and the show itself begins to develop into a really great series of its own.

The Secret Circle is a show where you can't make assumptions and think you're right, because the writers will end up spinning that assumption and giving you the unexpected. The show is compelling, it has a dark theme, plot-twists, there is mystery, romance, action, drama, horror, and of course the paranormal/supernatural elements of witches and magic.

Like I said, The Secret Circle is a must-see! After all, it isn't an official People's Choice Award nominee for nothing.

Best New TV Series of 2003

This is the best new TV series released to the networks for the 2003 season.

The writing is interesting, characters got developed this season, plot lines were intriguing, and there was comic relief. Check out this show if you have not already seen it on Monday nites.

What I like best about this series is Josh Dahumel. Not only is he eye candy but a good actor, he is fun to watch and you find yourself engrossed in the show. Apparently they have built an elaborate set in Culver City to film some of these scenes, but you can't tell the real shots from the studio shots. They do a good job masking the transition when they show panorama shots of Vegas itself. I often wonder when I view this show, how big their budget is for extras because they do a good job emulating a big casino. This series is strictly entertainment and as long as your expectations are not as lofty as the other reviewer, you will not be disappointed.

Really draws you in!

When I first started watching this show, I was thinking 'yeah, sure, whatever, everyone's dying who cares.' As the season keeps going, I get more and more hooked. I thought it was slow the first two episodes, but man, was I sorrily mistaken. It's one of the best shows on TV. I would watch it over almost anything.

When the pilot was aired, I just told myself that it was a stupid show about some people who are too stupid to notice people dying. My friend convinced me to watch the second episode, and I am so glad she did! Each episode of this show draws you in more and more. It's very fast-paced and dramatic. Though it can be a little bit cheesy, the shocking murders really make up for it. The actors and actresses were also better than I thought they would be.

This show keeps you on the edge of your seat, and will always have you thinking. It is hard to point the finger at one person when there are so many people who are seemingly guilty.

I'm not even a huge fan of the blood and guts, but this show really knows what's up! I would recommend it for anyone who is into horror films in the slightest! It's well worth it.

After watching even one episode, who wouldn't want to get stranded on an uncharted island, just to see if you could experience what these seven experienced?

I never get tired of watching "Gilligan's Island." As one of the many 1960's TV shows with wacky premises (breaking away from the "Leave It to Beaver" mold of the previous decade), it lives on to this day. At the beginning of every episode, when the theme song begins, I always act out the lines, and then wait for something crazy to happen.

Let's look at the characters. First mate Willy Gilligan (yes, he did have a first name) is the bane of everyone who believes in order and normalcy. Clumsy, pencil-thin and naive, he bungles every chance they have to get off of the island, and yet the other castaways didn't kill him. I guess they understood that he was a good guy under that idiocy.

Skipper Jonas Grumby is everything that Gilligan isn't: fatter than fat, competent and perfectly capable of taking charge. As his weight often is the butt of Gilligan's jokes, not to mention all the times when Gilligan drops things on his feet, the Skipper usually proceeds to hit Gilligan with his hat.

Thurston Howell III is the archetypal crass capitalist. He never does any work, and sits around all day talking about money. I always get the feeling that his grand ambition is to defraud all the other castaways. In spite of all this, Mr. Howell does have one weakness: his Teddy Bear.

Eunice "Lovey" Howell is as much of an heiress as can be. Always the aesthete, Lovey engages in eternal attempts to teach everyone the ways of the elite, but they never get the hang of it. Sometimes, it seems that she and Thurston married for money more than for love. Their marriage is often rocky, but they stay together.

Ginger Grant is the castaway with whom I would like to be stranded. A sultry movie star, Ginger can always seduce the men to get information. Her endless tales about life in Hollywood make life on the island sound not so bad. Ginger's dream would apparently be for Rock Hudson to rescue her from the island...and then some.

Professor Roy Hinkley is truly too smart for his (or anyone's) own good. Still, the Professor is the only reason that they are able to stay alive on the island. Whatever anyone needs built, he can take whatever materials are on the island and whip it up in a jiffy (unless of course anyone needs a raft).

Last but not least, Mary Ann Summers. She is the only castaway who can be classified as normal (and I use that term loosely). A wholesome farm girl from Kansas, Mary Ann tends the island's crops and keeps herself entertained by tuning into the soap operas on the radio. Nothing wrong with her.

So that's the story of the seven Castaways. They've been marooned on that island for over 40 years, and Gilligan's naivety, the Skipper's short temper, Mr. Howell's greed, Mrs. Howell's stuffiness, Ginger's sex appeal, the Professor's smarts and Mary Ann's glimpse into Americana never get old. It's always a riot to see their antics again and again...here on Gilligan's isle!

WOW. I watched episode 1 of Nurse Jackie this morning OnDemand. I LOVE her INSTANTLY! Edie Falco has brought to life a character I can really enjoy. The supporting cast is not full of stereo-typicals, and they compliment the show. I am so looking forward to next weeks' episode! I have heard a lot of comparisons of Nurse Jackie to Dr Gregory House. I doubt any of these critics watched the show. Being injured & dependent on Pain Meds is where the likeness ends. Dr. House is a louse. Nurse Jackie CARES. She has HEART. She FEELS. The show reminds me of the original E/R from way-back-when. The one with Elliot Gould, Jason Alexander & baby-face ACE...a young George Clooney. I really enjoyed that show too.

If the show were real, I would trust Nurse Jackie with my life...just not my Pain Medication. Please give this show a real chance & watch it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

It's Jackass for the Internet Crowd

A lot of people compare Tosh.0 to the E! Network's Talk Soup. Sure, it's just some guy standing in front of a blue screen commenting on stupid people hurting themselves on Youtube for a half an hour. You could also say the same thing about America's Funniest Home Videos.

But what makes Daniel Tosh's show different is that his one-liners are often spot-on, his audience interaction is great (like when he asked his audience which celebrities he could beat up), and the web redemptions/remixes/reunions/retreats are hilarious. Now that the show went from having a budget of zero to actually having one, expect them to get even crazier.

And unlike the other shows, Daniel Tosh's is almost interactive, whether it's pasting together stories from random Twitter feeds, wrecking havoc on Wikipedia (they actually had to close the page to prevent Tosh fans from editing it due to "vulgar, rampant profanity"), or seeing how many funny comments he can make in 20 seconds.

I'd actually go so far as to compare this show to MTV's Jackass. Sure it lacks the camaraderie of Johnny Knoxville and his crazy crew - but the gags are there. The brand of toilet humor and random nonsense is exactly the same. And where's the puke? There's plenty of it!

This show is better than new cartoons

One thing many people do not realize especially the person who posted a comment before i did is that the advice scenes at the end of each episode of this show and 8 or 9 other shows taught good things to children and compared to today's shows this is one show that all children need to watch because when this show and the other shows of that group of 8 or 9 shows were all on you rarely got news reports of kids being caught with Guns, Knives, Drugs, or Exsplosives on school grounds because this show and the others taught kids right from wrong. This show focused on teaching kids to obey their parents and other elders where the new TV shows promote violence and destruction. I feel that this show should be seen by all of the young children that are under 10 years old.

Desperately Wanting More

I'm gonna address something in a serious tone, that is way unlike the premiere of Desperate Housewives. Television, has gotten entirely too serious. It has! Even its comedies can be horribly depressing.

As I sat watching the premiere of Desperate Housewives, I found myself doing something I haven't done in quite some time, and that is "smiling," No, I mean, a huge smile, a GRIN of thankfulness.

I have a theory that most pilot scripts suck, because they are establishing a series, I have hardly ever liked a PILOT script, even if they do their job well which is establish character and the mood of the show. The great story telling comes after the pilot.

The only good pilot I have seen in recent years, was the pilot for ALIAS (brilliant) now a week ago, I saw the PILOT for LOST (edge of your seat good). But even those were topped by the intricate, hysterical, amazing pilot script for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. If the writers are out there, reading this, 1. Thank You. 2. why are you reading this, get to writing more of this wonderful show.

They also have gotten a superb cast of women. OLDER WOMEN! WOMEN WOMEN, not some 20 something year olds with bland looks on their faces and pouty lips! But Talented, amazing, beautiful, WOMEN (and I'm a guy in my 20's) I appreciate that... WOMEN over 40 ROCK! I speak of course of Felicity Huffman, who can do more with one line of Dialogue, than any other actress I know. This show, brings also the RETURN of Terri Hatcher, THANK GOD! It's about TIME!! And it also brings me, MARCIA CROSS, an actress who should have been given an EMMY for her brilliant, heartbreaking work in EVERWOOD last season.

The producers/Direction/showrunners of the show, have established a look for the show. it's American BEAUTY on ACID. A gorgeous use of color and cinematography, of scoring, and well, I mention it again, because it's so important... GREAT WRITING!

On every level, the PILOT for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES impresses. It has bite, humor and heart. I hope that it will be around for a long time. But even this one episode is enough to remind people everywhere, that network television can still be FUN!

Extremely Enjoyable

I did not catch this series when it first aired. My brother constantly spoke its praises, but I believed it would be the usual boring weekly drama.

I was wrong.

On my brother's recommendation, I taped every episode of the show when it ran in syndication on various channels. I have been slowly watching them during the Year 2002 (and now 2003), and after the first 40 or so episodes, I am here to tell you that this show is nothing short of amazing. The characters are interesting, the premise is, if not unique, at least enjoyable, and the subplots make you yearn for more. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does. It's difficult to believe that this show debuted in 1996. Not only has it stood the test of time, but it is better than most of the fare that has been aired in 2000 and beyond.

I am looking forward to the next 40 episodes and the TV Movies, which I hope will be equally engaging. I recommend that, if you haven't watched this program, start from the beginning and give it 6 episodes or so. You'll be hooked.

A Mixed Series

I have mixed feelings about this show. It probably has contained some of the best and definitely a lot of the worst Trek episodes ever. It was meant to re-invent Trek but all it did was re-use old plot devices. The best thing they ever did was replace Berman, because he had been working on the franchise too long. Trek needs new blood, and for the 4th season they finally got it. But of course it came too late and now the show has been cancelled after it just started to find its footing.

Contrary to some other comments I've seen, Enterprise did NOT use its cast to its fullest potential. Mayweather has been virtually ignored since the first and second seasons (he wasn't even in most of the 3rd season episodes) and when he has been around lately it has only been to lift heavy things or hit something. Reed was just starting to get some good stuff this season. Enterprise had a wonderful opportunity to connect every Trek series together and revitalize the franchise but all it did (and most people believe this) was bury it. Despite Enterprise's accomplishments, its failures reign supreme. As much as I love Trek, it needs a rest. Maybe after a few years it will be brought back by people who have new ideas to bring to it. Then, hopefully, we will truly go where no one has gone before.

Riveting and touching with great stories and performances

I starting watching COLD CASE while in a hotel room at a conference. When I returned home I found that my wife had also begin watching the very same episode. So we started making it our regular Sunday viewing. It is in a word - fantastic! The mood, the music, the actors, the back stories and the weird plots draw you in each week. In addition they work in themes that are important but they never beat you over the head with them. So far i have seen stories on the ease of getting guns and how they harm society, child abuse, pedophiles, and racism. But I never feel I am being preached to. The episode about the little boy sold into sexual slavery by his uncle and the tragic way this evil pedophile ruined his and others lives will stay with me forever. It was very heartbreaking. The opening credits and the great music by ES Posthumus ( as well as the songs that set the time, place and mood throughout the episodes) are eerie and evocative and just wonderful. I love this show.

A Haven for Imagination

One thing television often lacks these days is imagination. Major broadcasting networks tend to saturate our senses with the same old carbon copied television shows each week, with only a few being the exception.

Haven is what television is, and should be, all about. For any individual who loved the good old classic Twilight Zone episodes, or spent hours before Marathons of X-Files, for every kid who grew up on those wonderfully imaginative Sci-Fi comic books, or embroiled themselves in an unfolding mystery - Haven is for you. It's wild, fun and unapologetic for it's deliberately far fetched characters, and that's what makes it a winner. This on top of the discreet references to characters from Stephen King Books/movies ("...Got this book signed by that author.. before he was kidnapped and that crazy woman broke his legs.") as well as other Sci-Fi Shows as though they were real people who exist in this universe, it's a little tongue in cheek treat. For any fan of the fantastical, the speculative and fun, Haven should not be missed!

I absolutely adore this cartoon - it's my all time fave! It has everything - adventures, comedy, humour, even romance!! I would have to say that my favourite beaver is Norb, coz he's just so cute and his personality is just so cool. I recomend this cartoon to ANYONE! People shouldn't be allowed to rate a series based on one episode

As with every other Stephen King adapted miniseries this one started well, faded in the second round, and became formulaic by episode three. The characters are all two dimensional and been done too many times before. The dialog is trite and banal "it pays to be team player in this town" says the former high school quarterback. There is little suspense, little action, little romance and it's hard to get involved when there's 3 minute of commercials every 6 minutes. And yet the rating is hovering around 8 because of people voting after the first episode - If this was an ocean cruise I bet they'd have written on the voyage comment cards after the first night "Best time ever! I love the Titanic!"
